Local car dealership donates £2,000 to Children’s Hospital Charity
A local car dealership has raised £2,000 for The Children’s Hospital Charity and has pledged to raise a further £3,000.
Family run Winchester Car Sales, based on Herries Road South, have donated £125 each time it has sold a car in a week that Sheffield United have won as part of an initiative created to raise money for the Charity’s Make it Better campaign and celebrate the Blades 125thanniversary.
The Charity’s Make it Better appeal aims to raise £10m in total by 2016 with a brand new wing featuring plenty of private rooms with parent beds, ample parking, a secure outdoor space and a giant play tower amongst the developments planned.
Director of Winchester Car Sales, Tajinder Singh, presented a cheque for £2,000 to the Charity but he is hoping to raise £5,000 in total, a figure which would pay for a new consulting room in the new building.
Tajinder, of Bradway, Sheffield, said: “It gives me great pleasure to hand over a cheque for £2,000 to such a wonderful cause but our fundraising for The Children’s Hospital Charity doesn’t stop here.
“Our target is £5,000 and with us getting to the business end of the football season, hopefully we will see a few more Sheffield United wins yet which will help us towards our goal.”
David Vernon-Edwards, director of The Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We’d like to thank Winchester Car Sales for their continued support and for running this fundraising initiative which has raised £2,000 so far.
“We’re delighted to hear that they are aiming to raise £5,000 in total and that would be a great achievement which the Charity would be very grateful for.”
